Calling All Women of God
When we consider our spiritual gifts and how we might use them, we need to remember that when Jesus ascended into heaven, He made a promise to His followers. He promised them that they would not be alone. He promised that He would send them the Holy Spirit. It is this Holy Spirit that gives us spiritual gifts so that we might be equipped to serve God and fulfill His purpose.
Think a minute about who you are. You are ‘Women of God’. This means that you’re special and have a higher calling than other women in this world. You are a ‘city set on a hill’. You are the ‘light to the world’. You are ‘salt’ (Matthew 5:13-14). You are the branches securely attached to the vine of Jesus Christ, bearing much fruit (John 15:4). You are the wise woman who builds her home on the foundation of faith and fear of the Lord (Proverbs 14:1-2, 30:31); the woman who provides tirelessly for her family. You are a companion to your husband, constant in love and faithfulness. You are self-controlled, pure and kind (Titus 2:4). You are the friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). You minister to the sick and feed the poor (Matthew 25:35-36). You pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). You tell others about Jesus and the good news (Matthew 28:19). You are a ‘Woman of God’.
How is it that any one of us can measure up to all that we are called to be? Well, God in His infinite wisdom has provided for you a Helper, the Holy Spirit, and has given you the spiritual gifts you need to fulfill His calling.
So, ‘Woman of God’, clothe yourself in righteousness and go forth and serve, knowing that He who has called you will equip you for His purpose and always be by your side.
Let us pray –
Lord, we thank you for the body of women in the church. I pray that you will show them their spiritual gifts and empower them to serve you. I pray that these women will be filled with courage and that they will faithfully submit their bodies as a living sacrifice unto you. I pray that you will never leave them but instead, in every circumstance, be sufficient to their needs.
In all these things we pray in Jesus name, Amen.
